On October 13, 2015, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) published a video encouraging individuals with disabilities to self-identify, in conjunction with Department of Labor’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month celebration. The OFCCP states on the page for the video that, “as part of its ongoing efforts to support greater self-identification by individuals with disabilities, [the OFCCP] created this video to explain why voluntary self-identification is a good thing.” The video, “Disability Inclusion Starts With You”, can be found at: http://www.dol.gov/ofccp/SelfIdVideo.html.
The OFCCP has provided two versions of the video for download, one with and one without captions. They suggest that contractors may want to download the video and post it on their own intranet or company website for employees and applicants who may be hesitant to self-identify. The video explains why employees and applicants are being asked to self-identify and emphasizes that the disclosure is voluntary.
