On March 8, 2014, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) announced a $188,043 settlement with Parsons Brinckerhoff, a consulting firm responsible for designing, building, operating, and maintaining landmarks. In the last 3 years, Parsons Brinckerhoff has received over $2.1 million in taxpayer-funded contracts. The news release can be found at: http://www.dol.gov/opa/media/press/ofccp/OFCCP20140406.htm.
During a scheduled compliance review, the OFCCP alleged hiring processes that resulted in systematic discrimination against minorities applying for assistant engineer positions. No minorities were hired for the position between 2010 and 2012. Parsons Brinckerhoff has agreed to a settlement including a payment of $188,043 in back wages and interest to a class of 247 rejected applicants, job offers, including seniority to four members of the class, and the implementation of revised selection policies and procedures to ensure that future applicants receive equal employment opportunities.
