Nishimoto Trading Co. Settles With OFCCP for $400,000

In a news release issued November 17, 2011, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) announced a settlement with Nishimoto Trading Co. for $400,000 in back pay and interest to resolve allegations of hiring discrimination against female applicants. Nishimoto Trading Co. entered into a Conciliation Agreement with the OFCCP, the terms of which include $400,000 in back pay and interest to a class of 71 women who were rejected for positions as sales associates.  The company also agreed to offer 14 women from the original class sales associate positions as they become available.  Under the terms of the agreement, Nishimoto will also improve training for employees involved in the hiring process, and undertake self-monitoring to ensure full compliance with the law.
